ALFA ROMEO GIULIETTA SPIDER 1960

Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider
The first car in Alfa Romeo with a name (that is not an abbreviation), elegant but even more at the time synonymous of speed. An icon of Italian style and mechanics, equipped with accurate trims, it was also a very successful model. The first prototypes were set up with an America-style panoramic windscreen and sliding side windows that hooked onto the hood; later, for the standard versions, a flatter more conventional windscreen and the side windows in crystal were adopted.
The “Giulietta Spider” features a 1,290 cm³ longitudinal four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 65 HP (80 HP since 1958), which allows the car to reach a maximum speed of 155 km / h (165 from 1958).
The Giulietta reached 100 km / h in 15.7 seconds (14.8 from 1959) and covered the kilometer from standstill in 37.2 seconds (35.8 from 1959). These performances, superior to those of the competition, placed the Giulietta Spider at the top of the spider category.
