Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina
The Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina and Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina were executive cars (E-segment) produced by Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1968 to 1977. Berlina is the Italian term for a saloon car. Both cars had Alfa Romeo twin cam inline-four engines; top speed was 200 km/h (124 mph) and 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration took 9 seconds. Although it was very expensive, Alfa Romeo decided that it could not totally renounce prestigious cars, to battle foreign houses such as Mercedes, Bmw and Jaguar. Finally it should also be remembered that the so-called “Italian economic miracle” had created thousands of small entrepreneurs capable of paying out the sums necessary to purchase a higher-class car. These customers, in the absence of Alfa Romeo products that corresponded to their aspirations, had turned to other national or foreign companies. Thus was born the new “high range”, equipped first with a 1750 and then 2000 engine (since 1971) and a new bodywork designed by Bertone. The new sedan responded to the needs of the wealthiest customers by combining the qualities of sporting construction quality and elegance of the interior.
It was one of the first Alfa Romeos to also have an air conditioner and automatic transmission. Even the leader Maximo Fidel Castro had an Alfa 2000/1750 sedan.
It’s a fascinating saloon car, 4 seats comfortable, characterized by its iconic lines of 70’S by Bertone design that capture every angle of its creative features.Accessibility is good and even driving at a fast speed is conforteble, wood and “alcantara” metirial for the interiror. The clutch pedal is operated with minimal pressure, the gear box is simple to use and requires just a little practice to understand its functional features.
This car has a good load capacity within the rear trunk area. Above the spare wheel and safety/emergency equipment, there is enough space for four cabin trolley bags or even a hold luggage.
